When I first got my ipod, I was shocked to find how loud it could go. I'm not particularly fond of loud noises and even at 25 per cent of full volume (half the locked volume), it seemed to be ridiculously loud for anyone to want to listen to. Not long after that, I discovered that 25 per cent was indeed comfortable, and indeed necessary, if you were walking beside a moderately busy road. I had no real appreciation of how much the background volume varied until I read it objectively off the dial.
Today, I discovered that 25 per cent is practically inaudible walking around my local shopping centre, and not even on a particularly loud day. I pity the people who need to work there all day.
I also discovered a new San Churro outlet yesterday, and so, as a family, we went there today to churros and coffee. Actually, I had the coffee, and Hsiu Lin and Liem shared a hot chocolate. Being able to eat fresh, hot churros with melting dark chocolate without crossing the city was something of a revelation. On the downside, toddlers and melted chocolate do not mix, not that I needed any help making a mess on my own. Further research is needed into the correct way of eating churros. All in the interest of science, of course.
