Music and writing
Jun. 29th, 2005 12:43 pmBeen listening to a lot of Beethoven lately, and a little Mozart. One thing I've noticed is that I'm starting to think about my writing differently. I'm starting to look a lot more critically at the structure of my stories and to think more about the way the characters get to spend their "stage time". It's not just about who gets to be on-stage at any one time, but what they do with that time - do they really shine, or are they just staring at their boots? Are they making the most of the attention? Could the same time be better spent advancing the story in another way? I'm also starting of the story as something of a giant conversation between the characters, with thoughts and actions as well as words, much like a classical concerto.
Of course, by the time I actually start writing again, this could all have changed...
