Flute update
Jul. 27th, 2007 09:17 amI haven't had any time to play for a while, but yesterday was a surprisingly good flute day. I not only had a decent tone in the bottom and middle registers (getting any sort of decent sound out of the middle is rare for me), but the octave leaps were suddenly fast and easy. The leaps are where you switch octaves just by angling the airflow, instead of by overblowing. Done well, it means you can dance between the registers without a pause, just by flicking your breath up and down. Done badly, it means you can never be sure whether you'll get a note when you make the leap, or just a heavy rasping sound.
I'm still home today looking after Liem, so I should get another chance to practice. I wonder how I'll go today.
