Mussels/More Shells
Jul. 11th, 2007 07:29 pmDinner for Mr Liem tonight consisted entirely of steamed black mussels. I picked up a kilo of mussels from the fishmonger on the way home and steamed them with leeks, onion and celery. Liem had been playing with shells at daycare, so I pointed them out to him and he watched as Mummy and Daddy ate them using empty shells as tweezers. First he grabbed an empty halfshell and stuck it in his mouth, then he took a cooked mussel that Mummy offered him and chewed it up without blinking an eye. "More," he said, with repeats each time Mummy was a bit slow extracting the next morsel. The other food, including his previous favourites, chicken, baby corn and champignon mushrooms, was left untouched.
