Australia Day 2007
Jan. 26th, 2007 07:52 pmAfter dinner on Thursday, the start of the Australia Day long weekend, we went out to chat with the neighbours and brought them some slices of cheesecake we had made. One neighbour then suggested meeting for morning tea on our shared driveway the next morning (we quite often meet them there in the evenings, when we take Liem out for a play). That neighbour then asked the dear old couple who live opposite us, who then asked their friends. Before we knew it, by 11 am the next morning, the residents from five or six houses had gathered for an impromptu party.
In slightly weirder news, what the heck is going on with all the flagwaving on television? Australia Day used to be a day off work and who needed a better reason to celebrate than that? Last I looked, all this parading the flag around was, well... un-Australian.
