The plan for 2007 is to go back to a more character-based style. Start with the characters, look at the scenes and events that will really test them. The key difference will be how I integrate those scenes into the plot. Previously, I tried massaging the plot to try and fit in the key scenes I wanted. Now, I'm going to try using the narrative structure itself to let me concentrate on just those scenes. This means learning new techniques like jump cuts and telling the story out of chronological order. If I can do it right, it will let me skip over the flat bits and give me a lot more latitude in hiding the inconsistencies.
