I really need to cut down on the "zero energy" things... the things that I can do no matter how tired I am. I feel a bit like I'm in a sort of high functioning sleep state these days. I might think I'm fine as long as I'm only doing the zero energy things, and it's not until I try to do something else that I really realise how tired I am.

Browsing on the internet is one of those things. Writing is not. I think I'm feeling sleepy already.

For me too. Strangely it seems to take even less brainpower than watching TV. Which is not good, because I tend to keep on browsing when I should be in bed getting some sleep.

Yep - a number of mindless tasks (including TV) fall into that category. Being too tired to go to bed is very dangerous indeed.

Yes, sleep is one of those funny things. As a species, we've been doing it for so long it's a wonder we're not better at it. Mind you, you could say the same thing about raising children.

We hardly watch any tv at all these days. Maybe an hour a week, unless you count the cricket (which you don't so much watch as monitor in case something interesting actually happens).
