khiemtranNo writing progress of late, mainly due to work and lack of sleep. The frustrating thing is there's a fun problem I need to solve, but I just don't have the energy to spare to put my mind to it. I know, in story terms, what needs to happen, and I just need to find the right bit of plot that will fit. It's the sort of puzzle I usually like, but I just can't seem to get started.
I've also been thinking about the basic gatekeeper plot, inspired by a series of meetings I've been in today. The gatekeeper plot is an oldie but a goodie - character must overcome unintentional antagonist to achieve goal. The gatekeeper isn't obstructing out of spite - they're just doing their job or following their own motivations or natures. It was quite amusing, during the cut and thrust of debate today, to see the modern day gatekeepers still at work and the various strategies used by the would be protagonists to counter them.
