On the subject of Mozartian violinists, I really like Julia Fischer, even if Pentatone SACDs run a bit beyond my budget. There are some excellent free samples on her website though. I first heard her on the car radio one morning and had one of those "and who is that" moments.

Even on the horrible tinny speakers this computer has, which must be the crappiest soundcard ever, it sends shivers down my spine.

I had the complete cycle played by Yehudi Menuhin, but that was in the days of LPs, and even if I could get them transferred now I'd probably bitch about the tone; they were pretty much played into the ground. It'd be interesting to see how it will compare now.
