Disguises

My exercise this morning has been thinking of disguises a child-sized non-human humanoid can use in a mythical Chinese setting. So far I've got a large sack (i.e. pretending to be carried goods), a masked dancer or clown (allows movement, but a bit suspicious if travelling long distances in costume), a statue (also suspicious if travelling long distances) and a figure in a wide conical hat who's fond of bowing a lot (allows movement, attracts suspicion in certain situations). A lady in a sedan chair might also work, but would require an extra porter that I don't have, and a sedan chair. A child with an illness requiring bandages or a veil might also work, but would also raise too many questions.
