Flute update

khiemtranI've decided a holistic approach is what's needed here, insofar as I'm dealing with a holey stick.
I haven't had much time to practice lately, but I've been making some progress. My volume on the lower notes is much better now and my fingering and tongueing has much improved. (Those young and innocent like myself should be careful when googling on "fingering" and "tongueing".)
My tone and consistency still needs a lot of work and even little Liem seems to have grasped by now that his father is not what you might call a musician. Mind you, he's also a self-taught expert in "shrill", so it might be he's just not impressed by my offerings in the upper register.
The next area of focus will be on the seams between the octaves, and trying to make them as smooth as possible. I'm also going to have to work on getting a more consistent base pitch, which has so far eluded me. There's no way to tune my flute of course, apart from changing my mouth position and the speed of the air and relying on my ears (so, I'm obviously in trouble). I'm still pretty happy to be able to get a decent tone after five minutes or so, let alone getting my choice of pitch.
