Walking from Taronga Zoo to Mosman Bay today, we spotted this Port Jackson shark by the seawall in Mosman Bay.

Port Jackson Shark, Mosman Bay

It was actually quite tiny - only 30-40 cm long. We were very lucky to be able to spot the tip of the tail fin as it moved through the water. I actually thought it was a stick at first, until I realised it was moving. They seem to have more fins than a Swiss Army knife has blades. You can just catch a glimpse of some of them in the top photo. Since Sydney Harbour is actually Port Jackson, this was a very appropriate place to spot them.

I really like the monochrome patterns in this last photo. It looks a bit like its swimming in liquid mercury.

Heading home, the light on the Opera House was just amazing. We also saw what looked like a baby fur seal on the steps, but it was gone by the time we swung by after lunch.

Tiny shark! Well spotted!

That's a fabulous shot of the opera house... That dramatic sky makes for a perfect backdrop.

Yes, it was a grey day mostly (although very muggy) apart from a few patches of blue sky. There happened to be one patch above us just as we reached Circular Quay.

At that size, it's positively cute/sweet. Its dorsal fin (is that what I'm seeing?) is sort of like a butterfly wing.

Yes, it's most likely the dorsal fin. They have two vertical fins that look quite similar, so it's either the dorsal or the tail fin in that picture, but judging from the other parts that are visible, it's probably the dorsal fin.
