Exploring the Nepean
Sep. 11th, 2016 07:09 amCome with me this week on a paddle downstream on the Nepean. As you can see, we'll have our own little flotilla this time...

It's yet another gorgeous morning on the Nepean, and as usual, in the deep gorges, there's almost no wind at all.

We're going to explore the river downstream of Cataract Creek. We haven't seen this part before, and it looks wider and more open than the upstream portion. Fortunately, the morning is still cool.

As we paddle along, we can see huge trees knocked over in the recent flooding (the Neapean is controlled by a number of dams, and when they spill it must be spectacular. That's someone's tent up there in that tree.

Want some more? Okay, let's double back and have a poke into Cataract Creek?

And of course, we have to check out the magic cave.

The patterns are continually changing, and you can change them yourself by making ripples in the water.

Back at last at the Hume Highway. This is the road we took to get here, although it's a fair distance to double back and finally make it down to the water. Maybe someone's driving across it right now, wondering what's below...
