Sunrise with Seal...
Aug. 9th, 2015 03:20 pmI'm on my Sunday run at Cronulla, and what could be better than a crisp winter sunrise?

How about a seal swimming in the sunlit waves?

I was very lucky to see it. The morning light just happened to catch a green wave as I running past, so I could see something inside it. At first I thought it was a log, but then I realised that whatever it was was swimming. I whipped out my waterproof camera and quickly started taking shots, but it has hard to get a good one in the reflected light. Here you can see it's swimming lazily behind the rocky outcrop on the left.

In this picture, the seal (on the right) looks almost like a shark, with most of its body underwater. I'm intrigued now by the little triangle at the very top left. Another animal, or just a wave silhouetted in the morning sun?

Meanwhile, over at North Cronulla, the surf was even bigger than it was yesterday...

A great day for surfing, but not for beginners!
