The dunes at Wanda

It's Liem's first trip to the sand dunes at Wanda...



Running downhill is lots of fun...



But getting up again can be harder than you think...



Someone's left a rope here, to help people climb.



Nearly there...

That little pond at the bottom is actually quite a pleasant place to sit.



Next time we'll have to bring a mat or a body board, so Liem can toboggan...

Those sand dunes (which were a lot bigger once) once stood in for deserts for various Australian movies, including 40,000 Horsemen and Mad Max. Now, there's only a tiny fraction left...

Sandmining first of all, then housing. Ironically, this used to be the land that no-one wanted, being isolated from the rest of the city, filled with sand and close to the sea...

That is one enormous dune... And I have trouble walking up our local dunes, which are a fraction of the size.

In the mornings, it's filled with people doing boot camps and other exercise activities. It's also popular with local sports teams, who like to run up and down the hills.
