Fishing on the Woronora
Mar. 7th, 2015 04:22 pmSaturday morning, and I'm testing out the GoPro on our morning fishing/bird watching expedition.

I had hoped the GoPro might be able to capture some of the fish we often see jumping, but while we did see some fish jump, they were always too far away. This fish, however, was a different story.

Liem's first catch with a hardbodied lure and our first ever fish from the "Big Blue Yak"...

Mr Fish is not entirely happy with this state of affairs...

But he soon found himself back in the river...

We were also lucky enough to spot some azure kingfishers. They were too small to show up on the GoPro footage - there's one somewhere in this frame, but I can't make out where it is.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck with the point-and-shoot either. Small, fast birds that like hopping in shadows do not make the best subjects. They were gorgeous to look at though. We even saw one bathing.

On the way back, another surprise: a gathering of welcome swallows on a jetty...

Date: 2015-03-08 03:22 am (UTC)... If you had wanted to, is it allowed (and not dangerous) to eat the fish you catch?
The orange and blue bird is beautiful! As are the swallows--the camera must be so fast to catch the wings the way it does.

Edited: also, Hsiu Lin has some much better shots of the azure kingfisher on Facebook...
