Still trying for that photo that really captures what it's like to hike out. I had the GoPro tilted down a lot more this time.

SS1-8

Here we are racing across the Georges River towards Towra Point. You can see the wind waves rolling across towards the camera.

SS1-3

Facing back towards the boat, which looks comically small due to the wide angle lens. That black cylinder with red on each end is actually the grip from the tiller extension, which came off shortly after I launched. That's why I'm holding the metal shaft of the tiller extension with two hands - I'm worried about losing my grip on it. Holding it out in front of me is also bad technique - I really should have my hands in front of my waist, so I can lean in and out without moving them.

SS1-11

Heading back towards the Captain Cook Bridge. You can see the wind had dropped quite a by that point, so I concentrated on practicing my gybes and runs in the lighter conditions.

good pics. I'd say you capture the experience quite well.

I think the first one is probably the closest. With the others, you don't quite get the impression of speed as the water flows past. I actually nearly lost the camera after that first pic, when the wind started blowing it over my head. Think I'll need to add a safety line next time...

The severe curve of the horizon makes it look like you're on The Little Prince's asteroid.

I love the waves formed as you cut through the water in photo no. 2

Yes, it does look like I'm sailing on a tiny ocean world. The super-wide angle lens looks quite weird in most situations, but it's really useful for action shots.
