Sunday morning and we're in Bondi to experience Sculpture by the Sea, an open air sculpture exhibition that runs from Bondi Beach to Tamarama.

It's a great day for a walk by the sea, and the natural views are as impressive as the art work.

As we walk along the spectacular coastline, the sculptures are above, below and beside us.

This little room was lined with mirrors, but once you closed the doors, the lights went out. It was supposed to "switch your attention to your inner consciousness and thoughts".

It was! It looks like it would be a fun walk even without the artwork, but since it's a bit of a trip for us to get to that part of the coastline, it was nice to have the added incentive.

That's a great concept and lots of interesting pieces. Glad to see so many people out enjoying the exhibition.

Yes, it was nice to see so many people there. In a way, the snaking line of observers was as much a part of the scene as the sea and the cliffs and the various installations. Although by the time we left it was definitely getting very crowded, so it certainly paid to come early.

I was thinking of the downside of having *too* many people when I commented. :P

What an interesting event. I think I like wanderers, wind stone, metamorphosis, and man playing with birds the best.

From the practical side, it must have been quite tricky setting up some of the sculptures in difficult access places. I wonder if helicopters were used to move the pieces into their designated positions. Some of the rocky places look to be most difficult locations.

Yes, I'm not sure they used helicopters, but some of the installations must have involved some careful planning. And everything will get disassembled again in a few days too.

These are *gorgeous*. What fun it must have been to wander through them. I really love "Stone Baskets" and "Snakes and Ladders."

"The Ascetic" is sweet--I can see why it's a favorite.

Yes, the Ascetic makes me happy just to look at it. And I love the way the patterns in Stone Baskets echo the rocks and the sea.
