The Hardest Path...
Mar. 8th, 2006 07:59 pmAfter a lot of deliberation, I've decided that I'll have to take the hardest path with the Silver Bowl. That is, to take the theme of the original opening and try to make it work, instead of replacing it with a new opening with a more compelling theme.
There are at least three other themes I could use for the opening that would all be more enticing for the reader. All of them would be easier to execute. The trouble is none of them work with the rest of the story, or at least not without changing the whole of the story. If I lose the original feel and story idea, then suddenly the focus is all wrong for too many scenes. The last time I considered this problem, I chose the pragmatic option. This time, having failed to make the easy option fit, I'm going to have to go for the best one.
