Paddling to The Needles...
Sep. 29th, 2014 05:05 pmSaturday afternoon and the weather was still so nice when we got back from Bowral, that we decided to go for a late paddle on the Woronora.

It was almost perfect weather for paddling: not too windy and with a slack tide to help us home.

We saw the white-bellied sea eagle again, but only from the distance this time. However, sharp-eyed Liem managed to spot their huge nest...

The conditions were so good, we made it all the way to The Needles, the tidal limit of the Woronora. The pools in the background were teeming with fish. At one point, a little further downstream, they were jumping out of the water every time time the kayak got near.

The view from the top of The Needles. You can see the bottom of the valley is starting to lose the sun. In the summer, it's a popular place to picnic, although very hard to reach without local knowledge.
