Fishing with Balloons at Kiama
Jun. 30th, 2014 07:07 pmI'd heard of this technique, but until this weekend down at Kiama, I'd never seen it. It involves using helium balloons to carry the fishing line downwind and out to sea - much further than it would normally be possible to cast.

Here you can see the balloons as they drift out. Obviously, this only works with an offshore breeze, but the wind was blowing quite strongly that day. We saw the balloons get at least a hundred metres from shore, maybe more.
