Sunday at Cronulla

Sailing has been cancelled due to strong winds, so let's go to Cronulla to watch the surfers.





It might be bad weather for dinghy sailing, but it's great for surfing.





Lots of kids out bodyboarding too. In fact the bodyboarders outnumbered the surfers.







Two days of strong winds has worked up some very impressive waves.



But the graceful surfers make every thing look so easy.

Yes, I had my DSLR this time, and I was very lucky with the light. As you can see, most of the figures are practically silhouettes against the shining water.

I already spend enough time in salt water under capsized dinghies, but it would be nice to give surfing a try before my sense of balance is completely gone...

My guess, without being a sailor or having done any surfing but bodysurfing, long, long ago, is that your sailing balance will be very helpful when it comes to surfing. ?

It probably will, but balance was also my weakest part when it came to learning to sail.
