King Tide

Our ferry trip to Bundeena coincided with a King tide. Here are some before and after shots.

First, the public baths at Gunnamatta beach. See how high those posts are!

Next, the Cronulla Sailing Club. Looks like someone's trimaran wasn't meant to be in the water.

I've never heard the term "king tide" before; I had to look it up.

A 1.8m tidal range isn't very impressive by global standards, but it certainly had an impact in Sydney. There was flooding all along the local rivers and even the boat shed we went to last week had its cafe inundated.

I love the last low-tide photo, revealing all the … snails? whelks? mussels? … on the concrete step. (Also yeah, that poor trimaran!)
