Christmas Eve, and we've taken Liem for a day at Taronga...



Liem and I both had our cameras out...



There were baby elephants...



Sleepy lions.



Watchful meerkats.



And lemurs being lemurs.



Not so much into that carrot...



We saw the free-flight bird show.



And the seal show.









After show, we got to watch some of the other seals from below the water line.



As a child, I used to love watching the seals at the Melbourne zoo, their bodies so flexible they almost seemed like liquid themselves.



But eventually it was time to go home...

The seals do look like their bodies are made of mercury, all silvery and flow-y.

The lemur seems BOGGLED! FLABBERGASTED!

I like the elephant's smile.

The leopard seal (third-last and second-last photos) looked almost serpent-like when viewed from underneath.

I do enjoy the new style of enclosure they have for creatures like seals and penguins so you can see what they do underwater. They are amazing to watch. Back when I was a child you only saw the surface of the pool and totally missed seeing the creatures in their element.

Yes, the tigers especially were magnificent. They're Sumatran tigers, so they're quite rare.
