Expecting a baby? Why not check in to the Summer Residence, with five meals a day included, plus an unlimited supply of Red Date Drink...

Love the five meals a day!
Though it's for after the birth no? It says "confinement" on the leaflet... (not part of my family traditions, but I have to admit I'm envious of mothers who got to do confinement with helpers. That first month is really, really hard, and getting the mother to rest and get some sleep has always seemed a really sound idea to me).

Yes, it's for confinement after child-birth. It does sound very nice, but I'm guessing it's not cheap... From the website:

"At Summer Residence @ Rainforest Sanctuary, our philosophy is different as we believe women after 9 months of laborious pregnancy and having given birth, they instead deserve to have a vacation, be pampered and relax while they recuperate. We have created a place to do just that……. "

Oh yeah, it sounds like the luxury version, definitely...

Especially when it's your first. I remember coming home from the hospital--we were grad students--and my husband opening up a can of soup for me and saying, "Well… I gotta run." And there we were: me and the baby. How's it going, by the way?

*LOL* I can just picture that.

HL's mothers group here were shocked when they heard about how differently new mothers were treated in Malaysia. And on the flipside, her father was also amazed when he saw a young mother over here turn up in a car and put the baby into a stroller all by herself...

I will pretend to be pregnant to get some Red Date Drink! (Though I think at my age people will have some severe doubts about that pregnancy.)

I think you might also need to bring along a baby...

This sounds tempting and yet not. I don't know that I'd like all the comings and goings and just *presence* of other people.

Yes, there is that. It's also quite normal for middle class families in Malaysia to have live in maids, and that can also take some getting used to.

I can imagine! Already I'm thinking having a cleaning lady twice a week is pretty disruptive. :P
