Sunday afternoon and we're off for a bushwalk in the Royal National Park...

IMGP1727

This time we're following a section of the clifftop Coast Walk from Wattamolla to Curracurrang. The cliff views are very impressive.

And there are lots of people out enjoying the walk.

IMGP1698

Lots of birds around too.

IMGP1722

Including this white-bellied sea eagle.

Stopping for some refreshment. Guess who forgot his hat today.

The path ahead...

You can see Wollongong in the distance behind that point.

And just before the point, Curracurrang, where a small creek meets the sea. The only question is how to get down there. Here we missed the main trail for a bit and followed some smaller trails through the scrub before doubling back to the cliff edge.

The view from the creek mouth.

And here's the creek itself.

From here, the Coast Walk continues south, but we'll leave that for another day...

Unfortunately, he also tripped and grazed his knee, but luckily that was quickly forgotten.

Those are some pretty fabulous cliffs, and some great sparkles on the creek. Looks like it was a wonderful walk!

Yes, it was a great day for it. Apparently those cliffs are also a popular site for whale watching, because there's plenty of space to sit or picnic and look out across their coastal migration route. I think the humpbacks are still heading north at the moment, and we didn't see any that day.

That's very impressive erosion on the cliffs. :-)

Yes, they come with a warning not to go to close to the edge, for obvious reasons. This part of Australia seems to be slowly falling into the sea...

What fabulous scenery! Your cliffs look even more alarmingly unstable than ours...

Yes, you wouldn't want to stand too close to the edge. Or even a little way back from the edge if the wind is strong...
