Inesh Wood Fire Pizza
Jun. 28th, 2013 07:50 pm
A cold, wet Friday night, and we were all exhausted, so we went out for dinner at our local Nepalese pizza restaurant...
What's Nepalese about it? Well, for starters, you can order momo dumplings...

And a chicken, lamb or vegetable curry...

And it's not every day you find Shiva the Destroyer mentioned in the context of Chicken Pizza....

I'm not entirely sure that Ganesh would be happy about his pizza being topped with beef eye fillet.

Would you like Varuna, God of the Ocean? Or perhaps a Margherita...?

I have to confess, I had to double-take, as my brain, obviously rejecting "Nepalese" as a possible meaning before "pizza", had managed to convince my subconscious when I first read it than "Nepalese" must mean "in the style of Naples".

Date: 2013-06-28 09:14 pm (UTC)This particular place used to be a pizzeria called Ugly's, named after Tom Ugly's Bridge which is nearby (or possibly's Tom Ugly's Point, which is at the other end of the bridge). The new owners have redecorated it with Nepalese accessories, and I guess they've cornered the market for Nepalese Pizza in our area overnight.

Date: 2013-06-28 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm kind of curious to know the logic between what name goes with what array of components. Why does Ganga mata, the holy river, have tomato sauce, mozzarella, marinated chili and garlic prowns, etc., whereas Nakshatra, the constellation or stars, has tomato sauce, mozzarella, tuna, onion, olive, etc.
Am I reading right that an Inesh traditional pizza has potato chips on it? I want that!
