Amaze N Games at Wallington
May. 2nd, 2013 06:46 pmLiem and I are about to take on the wooden maze at Wallington, on the Bellarine Penisula. Liem loves solving paper mazes, but this is his first time in a real one. Will we succeed?

I have a bad feeling about this...

Finding the exit is easy. It's right next to the entrance. Unfortunately, before we can leave, we have to collect four stamps from four different coloured towers. That may be somewhat harder...

The maze is quite cleverly designed. For one thing, you'll notice that the walls don't go all the way to the ground. That way, if any small children get lost or separated, all they have to do is crouch down and look for the appropriate legs. (And, I suppose, adults could crawl under the fences if they wanted to cheat. But where's the fun in that?)

Various bridges provide an elevated view. Beware though, there are some devious turns hidden below the bridges so you can't see them from the top.

Here's the blue tower.

And the green.

And the yellow. Is Liem about to get his first stamp?

No.

But the real goal isn't far away!

Let's get our card stamped. Now for the red tower...

I'm beginning to spot a trend here.

There are also emergency exits on the outer wall. In case of emergencies, obviously. Luckily, we brought some water along.

Liem is getting tired, but at least we're making progress.

Or... Maybe not.

One by one, the towers fall.

Victory!

Now, we just have to find our way out... "We're going to be here FOREVER," says Liem.

Remember how the exit was right near the entrance? Well, it appears this means, having been to all four towers, you need to traverse back past all four towers again to make it out, regardless of which route seems to head toward the exit...

We made it!

For collecting all four stamps, Liem gets to pick a prize. He chooses a plastic lizard.

And, afterwards, it's off to Queenscliff for some fish and chips for lunch...
