Spot the difference...
Oct. 27th, 2012 05:18 pmProbably only of interest to Australians, but I was amused to see the following at our local supermarket. Notice anything odd about it?

Okay, so it probably wasn't too hard to spot. Arnott's "Jatz" and "Savoy" are basically the same product, marketed under different names. If you've grown up in Victoria (for example) you'll know them as Savoy. In New South Wales, they'll be Jatz. Just how we ended up with both brands on the same shelf here, I'm not sure, but I'm guessing someone had an excess of Savoy somewhere and a shortage of Jatz here in NSW.
Biscuit variations between states go beyond names (bearing in mind that this was a country that had three different rail gauges by the time the first three states had laid track). For example, I've heard that there are some biscuits which are made to different recipes in different states even though they have the same names - resulting in a steady stream of complaints around the summer holidays when people buy a packet of biscuits interstate and then write in to complain that they must have got a bad batch. (At least, that's what I heard on the radio, years ago - no idea if that's still true.)
