What is the guy in the last picture doing? Just polling on a very low-sitting canoe (or is it a sailboard or something like that), or is he spear fishing or something?

Bubbles, paella, and (friendly) ghost children are all great?

Is the bush near to your relatives' home? (Is it just out the back door, or do you have to drive to get there?) It looks just as I imagined.

It's called a paddleboard. It's shaped like a surfboard and you stand up and paddle it across the water.

I tried it in St Jean de Luz, and it is great fun. I never "caught a wave," but it is definitely more accessible than surfing. :P

Yes, it also looks like a lot of fun if you just want to get away from it and take a stroll out over the sea. It seems like a particularly contemplative form of boarding.

There's also a funny story there. Last summer, the three boys were playing on a standup paddleboard on a little beach where there was a class of bigger kids learning to surf. The waves were pretty small, and the bigger kids were just starting out, so they falling over all over the place. Picture three little boys drifting past them (backwards!) standing up on the paddleboard, shouting "We're surfing! We're surfing!" It was even easier once the fin had stuck in the sand...

Yes, it's pretty much the view from the other boys' home. The picture was taken about 20 metres from their house, and it's bush in all directions.

They love being photographed. Once they see a camera, they can't stay away.
