Fishnets Hamburger challenge...
Jun. 30th, 2012 07:37 pmSo, at work this week, we made a special order from Fishnets Cafe, noted for insanely large hamburgers. Most people ordered the "Awesome" burger. I decided that discretion was the better part of valour, and, in another sign that my university days are a long way behind me, opted for the smaller "Regular" burger. This is the Regular burger.

For just $5.50, you get an enormous bun, what seemed like four beef patties (you know you're in rarified territory when you lose count of just how many patties are in the hamburger you are eating), and tomato, lettuce, onion and beetroot (these are Australian hamburgers, after all).
The Awesome burger is the same, plus bacon and egg (and maybe cheese). You can get one of those, plus chips and Coke, for just over $12.
Here's me holding the Regular hamburger in one hand. Not an easy thing to do...

And ... finished! No dinner for me that night. And no breakfast the next day either...

Well, I can say I've done it now, but I certainly don't think I'll try it again. I might have managed an Awesome burger in my student days, but I think I can safely say I won't achieve it in this lifetime. And I may be done for hamburgers for this lifetime too (or at least the next year). It was nice enough, but it's probably fair to say that if you put the same ingredients into a hamburger a third the size, no-one would be excited enough to demand three of them.

That is an EPIC hamburger.
