Back again. Flight was long, but manageable. More thoughts when I've had a chance to recover.
In the meantime, have some Vienna...

A sunny day in Vienna on the way home, so what do I do?

I dive into a museum, of course! In this case, the famous Kunsthistorisches Museum.

First up, and it's more Klimt. They've put special viewing platforms so people can look at the Klimt murals up close.

Normally, you can only see them from far below (this is actually just above the huge staircase shown earlier).

Even the cafe was impressive.

I wandered around the excellent picture gallery for a while, but it was the more ancient collections I was most interested in.

This is a foot from a statue. You can see the peg underneath which helped hold it up.

These are Cyprian artifacts from around 600 BCE.

A ritual danze ("ReigenTanze"). The figure at the back has a double flute. I love the shadows on this one.

But, what's this? My ticket also gets me in to the Kunsthistoriches Museum extension at the Neue Burg on Heldenplatz. I wonder what I'll find there...
