Salt crisis...

I've been sick for the last week with a throat infection and a death cough. As part of the treatment, I've been gargling with warm salt water. The only catch is that now our little table salt dispenser is almost empty (we don't use a lot of salt on our food and we tend to liquids as salting agents as much as we use table salt).

So, either I get better today, I buy some more salt or I'm going to have to start gargling with fish sauce.

Looks like I'm going to have buy some more salt.

I dunno, if you try gargling with fish sauce, you may discover a miracle cure for sore throats.

Well, nam plaa has got oil and herbs. But likely some caustic spices.

Actually, the fish sauce we have in the house is nam pla (Squid brand), but the ingredients just say anchovies, salt and sugar.

In other news, I've just discovered that gargling whisky is also an acceptable substitute (though not at work). Fire-breathing afterwards, optional.
