Ah... a big Korean set lunch with lots of banchan (side dishes) including garlicky kim chi (pickled cabbage) and garlicky japchae (glass noodles), not to mention garlicky bulgogi (barbecued beef) and garlicky galbi (marinated ribs).

Haven't had one of those for ages (Seoul, in fact).

Except... the thought does linger. Perhaps I should have thought a bit more about my dentist prior to my appointment this afternoon?

Eating parsley is supposed to mitigate the effects of garlic.

Failing that, see how long you can hold your breath.

Well, the appointment passed without comment (other than "Excellent!", which I will take as a compliment about my teeth and not a commentary about my dining preferences), so all the frantic brushing and mouthwashing beforehand must have had some effect...

I found that Korea is the only country with a higher garlic consumption than Italy :)

...and even I find it difficult to think of garlic-less food when I have a dentist appointment (which I usually take for the early afternoon). Usually I do think of it, but this is generally followed by some heavy head-scratching as I plan lunch.

:)

Liem brought back a home reader from school which included, under "Words you might not know": "Garlic: a pungent vegetable used in small amounts".

I don't know what they're teaching kids in schools these days...
