Borders in Chatswood were apparently clearing out their entire CD stock today. All CDs were $10, regardless of sticker price, and you could get four for $30. While this is no doubt bad news for Borders, I did manage to find four CDs of interest out of the remaining stock.

First of all was You've Stolen My Heart, by the Kronos Quartet and Asha Bhosle, featuring the songs of R.D. Burman. Not something I would have bought normally, but at $7.50 it was a fairly good choice. I don't have any Bollywood music in the house, and these ones are certainly intriguing. Even better, they come with lyrics in both English and Hindi.

Next was a 2 CD set by The Australian Trio, with Piano Trios by Hummel, Saint-Saƫns, Smetana, Debussy and Arensky. This was a set I actually had considered buying previous, but I turned it down at $20. I've noticed earlier that I seem to like anything by Hummel and I've enjoyed what chamber music by Debussy I've heard so far.

The last two CDs were both of Bach cantatas. One was from John Eliot Gardiner's Bach Cantata Pilgrimage (actually a two CD set), and the other was #22 of the Bach Collegium Japan's cantata cycle. I've heard cantatas from both these sets before, but this is the first time I'll have a chance to listen to them to closely. It will be interesting to compare the different approaches (I already have the Brilliant Classics cantata cycle from the Netherlands Bach Collegium).

It's just not possible to have too many Bach cantatas. It may not be possible to have enough Bach cantatas.
