This was quite a fun, quirky movie. I saw it twice on the flight over here (needless to say, it was a long flight). I worked out later that it was adapted from a manga (and also a live action tv series apparently). Although it was live action, it had lots of cartoon style physics and cartoon style emoting, plus it gave me a whole new appreciation of the 1812 Overture.

On the other hand, not knowing it was part of a series, it really caught me out with the ...

...ending where the credits start rolling right after the main character has just been told that her love interest is moving out and collapsed on the floor (with suitably manga-based physics). Having seen half a dozen similar tricks thoughout the movie, I was convinced this was just another one. Surely, it isn't really going to end here. They're just going to rewind and get back to the plot any second now. See, look how they're drawing it out. This is some bluff actually. Now look at all those credits. Those are obviously over-the-top. Hmm, this is quite impressive actually. Best joke of the whole film. How long is their nerve going to hold? Credits are going completely crazy now. This has to be a joke. Not fooling me. Screen's gone blank now. Going to cut back any second. Any second now.

The manga came first. There were two live-action TV series, two anime series with a hiccup in the middle because of illness on the part of one of the creators and the movie you saw was one of two which are set after the live-action TV series storylines.

Confused yet?
