Home again. Vegas post to follow once I get rested up. Managed to make the connection at SFO okay (and this time so did my luggage). Flight was survivable, if never actually comfortable. I still can't believe United still hasn't got any seatback entertainment for a fifteen flight (and I'm flabbergasted at the thought processes behind designing those meal trays with uneven bases such that they only sit stably at one very precise and awkward alignment).
Sydney airport was its usual horror at the morning rush hour. Great masses of tired passengers milling around, trying to work out where to queue to get through customs, only to be told off when they finally got to the front for not following instructions they were never given. It's not so bad for the regulars because we know what to do, but it's downright embarassing how bad it is for first time visitors or those who don't have perfect English.
