Soaring dragon, hidden ocean...
Feb. 16th, 2010 07:25 pmI'm relaxing after dinner with a glass of Windy Peak pinot noir, when I happen to read an ad for the Sydney Chinese New Year festival on the back of the tv guide. "One World One Family" it says, with some largish Chinese characters underneath. Hang on, I think. That's not what it says...
The four characters under "One Family" actually read "Four oceans one family". Two of the characters under "One World" have me stumped though, and I have to consult my dictionary.
As best as I can work out, the full text reads "Dragon Flies Five Continents Four Oceans One Family" (Long2 teng2 wu3 zhou1 si4 hai3 yi1 jia1), although I'm still not sure what the literal meaning's supposed to be...
