Mamma Mia!
Nov. 29th, 2009 06:52 amWe saw Mamma Mia at Star City yesterday. It was a fun show and nicely Australianized. It has to be said, there was an awful lot of oestrogen in the room - the queues for the toilets in the intermission had lines of women and small girls snaking so far out of the doorway that I actually had a man ask me where the men's restroom was (through there, past all the women, then turn right - it's almost empty).
Any way, we had a great time and the songs were nicely worked into the plot - the funniest moment for me was probably when the opening notes of "Take a Chance on me" started and you could watch the realisation of watch was coming next sweep across the audience. Plot-wise, it was also interesting that though there was conflict aplent, every single character was protrayed completely sympathetically. These were all people you'd like to spend time with.
