Packing for a trip is getting quite streamlined these days - I've got a completely set of business clothes that I only wear for travel and a spare set of toiletries and other clothes. Basically, it's just a matter of throwing these all in the suitcase, choosing a heavy coat or exercise gear if required, and adding in a few extras like my glasses, umbrella and power adaptors.
Only this time, I couldn't help thinking that it seemed a little too easy. Okay, so I wasn't packing a heavy coat (I'll be wearing a jacket and jumper on the flight anyway, since it's cold and wet here in Sydney), and I'm not planning to do any exercise. But why was there so much space left in the suitcase?
I finally worked out that I'd forgotten all about socks and underwear. Luckily, I discovered this fact before arriving at LAX with exactly one pair of each...

Date: 2009-06-20 01:01 pm (UTC)I tend to forget towels. And yes, I'm usually going places where you need to know where your towel is, otherwise there won't be one. My way of packing is to grab the toiletry-cum-medicines bag that just stays ready, and go through the clothes I want/need to wear. Which means I usually have those, and fail at the rest.
These days, the electronic side of things takes up as much time and more space: I need a camera and batteries and a battery charger and a multi-plug converter; I need the charger for my phone and the Eee and the charger for the Eee and headphones for my phone. Thud.
