My 1996 LP Mandarin phrasebook says this about "gong(1)bao(3) rou(4)ding(1)":

"Shredded pork stir fried with chillis and peanuts; invented by the poet Su Dongpo."

This has to be a mistake. As far as I can see, gong bao rou ding(宮保肉丁) is just gong bao ji ding(aka "kung pao chicken") with pork instead of chicken. It's not even possible that Su Dongpo could have adapted the recipe himself since he predates the Qing dynasty "gong bao" (宮保 - palace guardian) who did invent it (not to mention predating the entire Qing dynasty).

Su Dongpo is credited with inventing Dongpo pork, and this is also mentioned in the same phrasebook. Looks like it's just yet another typographic error that I haven't noticed until now.
