When the chips are up and down

I made some panfried garlic potatoes as a tv snack last weekend, telling Liem they were "chips" (one of his favourite foods). We ate them while watching Doctor Who and I was feeling quite smug about my culinary skills and wondering why I'd ever bothered with frozen chips in the past. The smugness lasted until today, when I asked Liem if he'd like some more sometime. "No," he confided. "I only like up and down chips..."
