It wasn't so long ago that I got bored with plain sandwiches for lunch and decided to have sandwiches "with taste" instead ("with taste" being code for one sliced chilli, of the kind known in Malaysia as "cili padi" and over here as "Thai chillies" [1], spread between two toasted cheese sandwiches).

As it turned out, sandwiches "with taste" turned out to be not quite tasty enough, so I soon moved to sandwiches "with double taste" (one whole chilli per sandwich), then triple taste (three chillies in two sandwiches).

Yesterday and today, I had sandwiches "with quadruple taste".

I'm out of chillies now.

You might wish to move sideways into a stronger variety of chilis at this rate. Else you'll end up with a chilli-and-cheese sandwich.

You're obviously more evil than me. I've recently discovered that spreading sambal oelek on the bread instead of mayonnaise produces more interesting sandwiches, and I thought that was probably evil and condemned by some church or other -- but I hadn't even thought of using actual fresh chillies :-)

(Oh and, the small, harmless-looking chillies are also known as Thai chillies in Ireland. Who knows, maybe they're really from Thailand!)
