khiemtranMonday night, and I'm looking for a cd to put on. "Liem, what sort of music do you want to listen to?"
"I want ... I only like Fado."
From the kitchen, Mummy is puzzled. "Fadu? What's fadu?"
"You know, Fado. Sort of like Portuguese blues. Liem, I don't think we have any ... oh, hang on..."
I flip open the iBook, turn the volume up and fire up iTunes. Out comes Mariza, singing Fado Português de Nós.
Liem dances around the room happily.
The track ends and on comes a Mozart horn concerto (the next thing I happened to buy from iTMS).
"Daddy, the fado needs to go on again..."
"I want ... I only like Fado."
