The restructure has been proceeding slowly. The problem I'm working at the moment is a sequence of three chapters where there's currently only enough "story" for two (there's a lot of essential background being transmitted in all three, but whichever way I slice it, I end up with one chapter that's ALL background and no action). One solution would be to invent some extra plot action, but this runs the risk of further destabilizing the story structure downstream.

Last night, I had a bit of an inspiration and I thought I could see a way to compress the three chapters into two. Actually two ways. The first is to roll parts of chapter B into A and change some of the chronology. The second is to skip parts of B altogether and put them as backstory. The second method seems the more elegant approach, but I'm not sure it comes off. I'm worried that it might be a little too jumpy. (Chapter A, in its current form, ends on a dramatic revelation and B would then start a day later with the consequences of the revelation already soaked in.)

Looks like this is as far as I can get with outlining, I'm going to have to take a stab at one or both of them and see what works best.
