I left the hotel around 10 am Saturday morning (5pm in Sydney) and got back home around 6:30 am Monday, making it about thirty seven hours door-to-door. Fortunately, it all went vastly more smoothly than the trip out.
I'll post some pictures when my brain has had time to recover. In the meantime, here's a vignette from when I was leaving the hotel...
I was just in the process of checking out, when the girl at the counter's voice became suddenly strained. "Excuse me, sir, but there's a SPIDER on your shoulder!"
I looked across and sure enough, there was something small and brown just within my field of vision. Oh well, how bad can a Finnish spider be? I flicked it off casually and went back to my paperwork.
"Um... I think it's gone now," says the girl, still looking a bit uneasy.
"It's okay, I'm from Australia," I said. "I'm not scared of your spiders, only our spiders..."
It was only when I was waiting at the bus stop that it dawned on me that since it was on one of my T-shirts, it may well have been one of "my" spiders after all...
